One of the six botanical oils in Immortelle Gold — here's the full picture, beyond the marketing.
Argan oil is pressed from the kernels inside the fruit of the argan tree (Argania spinosa), a species native to southwestern Morocco. The trees can take decades to mature, and traditionally the kernels are cracked and pressed by hand — one of the reasons genuine argan oil has long carried a premium price. It's been part of Mediterranean and North African beauty routines for generations, long before it became a fixture on skincare ingredient lists worldwide.
Cosmetically, argan oil is prized for three things: its fatty acid profile, its vitamin E content, and its texture. It's naturally rich in oleic and linoleic acid — the same fatty acids skin uses to maintain its own moisture barrier — plus tocopherols (vitamin E), a naturally occurring antioxidant. In practice, that combination is why argan oil is used in facial oils to help soften the look and feel of the skin and support a smooth, comfortable texture, particularly for skin that tends to feel tight or dry.
Just as importantly, argan oil absorbs quickly and doesn't sit heavy on the skin — unlike some richer carrier oils, it leaves a satin rather than greasy finish. That's a big part of why it's such a common base note in facial oil blends rather than a heavy standalone balm.
Because it's lightweight and generally well tolerated, argan oil is used across a wide range of skin types in facial oil formulas — from drier skin that wants extra cushioning, to combination skin that needs something that won't feel greasy. As with introducing any new botanical to your routine, a small patch test on the inner arm is a sensible first step, especially if you have known sensitivities to tree nut oils.
Argan oil sits in the middle of the weight spectrum: lighter and faster-absorbing than something like sweet almond oil, but slightly richer than an ultra-light oil such as grape seed. That's exactly why formulators often blend it with both — a lighter oil to keep the overall texture from feeling heavy, and a gentler emollient to round out the finish. It's less about any single "best" oil and more about how oils are balanced together in a formula.
In Immortelle Gold, argan oil is one of six carefully chosen botanical oils — alongside grape seed, sweet almond, immortelle, yarrow and lavender oil — combined into a single waterless facial oil with no fillers or parabens. Argan oil's role in the blend is to help the formula feel silky and quick-absorbing rather than heavy, while immortelle — the "everlasting flower" the ritual is named for — remains the star ingredient the rest of the blend is built to support.
